School of Foreign Languages Has Hosted Writing and Speaking Standardization Event
The School of Foreign Languages recently conducted a comprehensive event to evaluate and standardize the assessment of writing and speaking outputs, which are measured both throughout and at the end of each semester. The initiative aimed to ensure consistency, fairness, and reliability in evaluating students' language proficiency.
During the event, instructors and assessment coordinators engaged in collaborative standardization sessions. They reviewed students' writing samples and speaking recordings, applying holistic rubrics to maintain objectivity and alignment with CEFR standards. By comparing scoring practices and discussing evaluation challenges, the team aimed to minimize discrepancies and ensure inter-rater reliability.
The event concluded with a reflection session where participants shared insights and best practices. The outcomes of this standardization initiative will inform future assessments, contributing to the ongoing development of effective and reliable evaluation methods.
